i would like to state firstly that i in no way intend to offend anyone.. its just when i was in the org i had major problems with the blood issue/death because of persecution.

many times we were taught that god does`nt ask us to do anything that he has`nt done himself.

now imagine everything the bible says about jesus really did happen.

I've poured over the scriptures wherein Jesus is quoted and have never found anything in his comments that referred to his death as a sacrifice
What this poster wrote was where 'Jesus is quoted'. All the references above from Hebrews etc. were NOT quotes from Jesus actually.

not only was he going to come right back to life again, but why in the world was this necessary in the first place?

Another thing, if we are all imperfect because of the sin of Adam, and our world is so screwed up because of it, and so Jesus came and sacrificed his life to pay back the ransom, wasn't the 'debt' paid 2000 YEARS AGO??
So what are we waiting for?
And all the suffering of the last 2000 YEARS has been unnecessary, without a reason?
And I don't buy the usual JW excuse that a thousand years is as one day to God - as the creator, he knows our time, and Jesus certainly does if He needs reminding.
Where is the justice? I don't see it.

why dis-associate, you are just playing by the wts rules?

how can you dis-associate anyway, you never thought you were baptised as a watchtower society member, you thought your dedication was to god, so why formally disassociate from something you did not formally join?

I have seen this total crap posted a few times. IT DOES NOT WORK
Prove me wrong, has ANYONE ever managed it? (Telling others, so they are not sure whether to ignore you or not, dosn't count as an official annulment)
If the WT catch on, and I know they read boards like this, there will soon be a comment about it in the literature, or an elders letter saying it is not possible, just to make it clear to the confused.

What was the purpose having Eight Day assembly?

I can't imagine how hard it would be to fill 8 days worth of material without being accused of falling into a cultic tactic of mindless rote and ritual.

The modern day conventions are very different from the older ones. The week long events had many dramas, lots of new books and booklets, even convention booklets. The sessions were very long but there was a feeling of anticipation because talks often included new thoughts giving something to talk about.
Now they are total crap. Friday a.m. - how to stay awake, take notes. Friday p.m. pioneers telling you how good they are blah blah. Saturday - new release and baptism. Sunday, elongated normal sunday meeting.
Nothing new, nothing interesting. The material is so stretched out you could reduce the whole thing to 2 or 3 hours. Glad I don't go anymore. You need to be brain dead to stay awake.

Local needs after d/f or reproof

this may be a question for ex-elders.

is it always the case that a talk will be given after a d/f or reproof relating to the persons 'sin'?

after these announcements in our hall we always seemed to have a talk/local needs, which practically told you what the person had done.

Yes it is policy. But one thing that changed in recent years was to delay the talk a couple of months rather than straight after. But the congregation always knew everything by then from the elders wives!!

Death of the anointed

last night i found out that a sister i loved dearly passed away.

she died of cancer.

a JW funeral is not about paying respect to the departed one. It is used as an opportunity to preach. Choose a quiet moment to reflect on their lives. Sorry to hear about your loss.

sometimes i wonder, with the number of letters that the wt receives refuting doctrine & practices, does the gb really buy what they put out?

or are they just pushing literature and living off the collections from congregations.

i would think that if i received overwhelming evidence of the faultiness of my religion, i'd be forced by my own conscience to change or speak up or make a difference.

It's a good question. To what extent are they dishonest and to what extent are they deluded?
This is the one and only question where I cannot agree with Ray Franz. He would say deluded, but meaning well. I would say dishonest and meaning well - for themselves.
